New Float Valve with Reg 4 Compliance

Non-return 2-chamber float valve 21.010.726 achieves Reg 4 conformity

A. u. K. Müller has developed a new 2-chamber float valve and thus achieves Regulation 4 conformity.

The Essentials in Brief:

  • New servo-controlled 2-chamber float valve with non-return valve
  • An alternative for a WRAS-certified product
  • REG4-compliant
  • Mechanical design for independent safety and economy
  • Easy to retrofit

A. u. K. Müller has developed a new 2-chamber float valve to achieve Reg 4 compliance with the UK Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. The new DN 10 float valve has an additional chamber with an upstream check valve to provide backflow protection even in the event of negative pressure. This means that even in the event of flooding, backflow of potable water is prevented, providing additional safety.

The new 21.010.726 series float valve has been certified in accordance with the Kiwa UK Regulation 4 Product Approval Scheme (KUKreg4), which is equivalent to a WRAS certificate. This means that A. u. K. Müller can now offer a real alternative for a WRAS certified product to many manufacturers with a sales market in the UK.

REG4 Float Valve: Economy and Safety

Thanks to the fully mechanical solution, we do not forget economic efficiency and external sensors are not required at all. This means that manufacturers only have to make minimal adjustments to their existing application. There is no need for any programming and functionality is guaranteed even without electrical supply. This reduces consumption and increases safety.

Background

In 2019, WRAS re-categorised float valves for tank filling (e.g. for rainwater harvesting, water treatment or irrigation systems). The products with which an air separation section can be realised must now pass a suck-back test (antisiphonage test). This could not be achieved with conventional solutions. A challenge for many manufacturers, who now have to adapt their products for the UK market.

The Kiwa UK Regulation 4 Product Approval Scheme (KUKreg4) offers the same level of compliance with the water directives as a WRAS certificate, the only difference is the certification process.
